What I’m working with now. Big wood slab from IKEA, of all places, on two steel trestles. Moving in is a process, and I’m sure it’ll be a fucking mess before I know it, but for now: ahh, serenity.

Ryan’s “Vintage Mac addict” setup. Notice how much he’s done with one tiny-ass room. The Ikea Expedit desk/shelf is one of the most versatile small-space solutions I know of. The cords don’t look great back there (and facing the bed, too!), but I’ll give this 17-year-old some credit. (Unplggd)

Last week I moved to a larger apartment in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. This is my new desk, an outdated Ikea model donated by my girlfriend’s brother. Chair is an Ikea Verksam; cable organization, Ikea Signum; whiskey, Knob Creek; CMOS, 14th ed.
The lamp is my favorite thing on the whole desk. I found it on Craigslist and ventured up to the UWS for it. The sellers, a couple moving to Boston, asked me what I did. I told them I was a copyeditor. The guy told me his dad got his start as a copyeditor, too. He gave me the lamp for free. I’ll pass it on someday.
